Army Service Uniform

As many of you know the Army has decided to streamline all dress and service uniforms (Army Whites, Class A uniform, Army Dress Blues) into one uniform.  The Army Blue Uniform will now be called the  Army Service Uniform.  Soldiers who own the Army Blue Uniform can continue to wear it.

As of this writing the wear out date for the Army White and Class A uniform has not been determined.

Introduction of the Army Service Uniform in Clothing Sales Stores is anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter FY 07 and the clothing bag in first quarter of FY 08.

The Army Service Uniform mandatory possession date for all soldiers is expected to be fourth quarter FY 11.

The streamlining of Army uniforms began in 2004 with the consolidation of summer and winter BDUs into the Army Combat Uniform (ACU).   By eliminating the Army White Mess Uniform and Class A uniform, the adoption of the Army Blue Uniform as the Army Service Uniform further reduces the number and types of uniforms a soldier is required to possess and care for.
