Army ACU trouser problems
The Army times is reporting that the Army is restitching approximately 1 million pairs of Army Combat Uniform trousers. This is as a result of soldiers complaining for the last two years that the crotch seams were ripping open in Iraq. According to the PM for Clothing and Equipment the Army began retrofitting uniforms pulled from supply stocks. ACU manufacturers have switched to a heavier thread and reinforced stitching to fix the problem with new ACUs.
The new Fire Resistant ACUs (FRACUs) have the new reinforced design. The Army Times is reporting the Soldiers deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan in Jan of 2008 will deploy with 4 sets of the new fire resistant ACUs.
