Army Aviators, Tankers and Fuel Handlers to receive FREE in FY 09
Approximately 150,000 soldiers serving in Aviation, Armor and Fuel handling specialties will receive a new fire resistant, cold weather uniform the Army Times is reporting. The new clothing system is called the Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble or "FREE". The uniform is designed to give Soldiers in these specialties the same type of modern cold weather equipment that was fielded to the rest of the Army with the Generation III Extended Cold Weather Clothing System. FREE will replace the current Aviation Cold Weather Clothing System. Fielding is expected in the Fall of 2008.
