Regulations for wear of the new USMC Running Suit and PT Gear

ALMAR 019/08 published regulations for wear of Marine Corps PT uniforms and the Marine Corps Running Suit.  The running suit is meant to compliment, not replace, existing PT uniforms.

Except for the conduct of PT, USMC PT Gear is not authorized for wear during leave and liberty with the following two exceptions.

  • The USMC sweatshirt may be worn during leave and liberty as an outergarment or a a layering garment (under a jacket).
  • The USMC running suit jacket may be worn during leave and liberty as an outergarment.  When worn, the running suit jacket should be zipped at least halfway to the top of the zipper.

The USMC running suit can be worn in any combination with green PT shorts and Green PT Shirt, however the running suit is not authorized for wear in any form with the USMC sweat suit.

Marines should refer to ALMAR 019/08 for further information.
