Revised Rollout Plan for New Navy Uniforms

The Navy announced it has revised the rollout plan announced in NAVADMIN 004/08 (Jan 2008) for the New Navy Uniforms pushing back the release of the Navy Working Uniforms.

The Blue Digital Camouflage Uniform will be released to the fleet in winter 2008 and to Recruit Training Command in spring 2009. The Navy Service Uniform for E-1 through E-6 will begin late this summer.

The new Navy physical fitness uniform is on track for Spring 2008.

Uniforms will be available at Navy Exchange uniform centers and temporary off-site locations until all regions have been fully outfitted.

Each uniform rollout will take 24 months from the start of the uniforms availability to completion. The sequence and timeline for the rollouts will be announced later this year by NAVADMIN. During the phase in period both old and new uniforms are authorized for wear.

Sailors are already receiving an increase in their clothing allowance which will be needed to pay for their new uniforms when they are available.

Sailors should refer to NAVADMIN 004/08 and Captain's Call for more information
