Bruce Rolfsen of the Air Force Times is reporting that fielding of the Air Force Blue "Heritage Coat" is still possible. The jacket would be part of an Airman's Class B Uniform and is one of four proposed changes the Air Force is reviewing. All Heritage Coat tests are complete and feedback from Airmen is being reviewed, but no decision has been made.
The Air Force Blue Heritage coat, similar to WWI & WWII uniforms, was the idea of former Air Force Chief of Staff Michael Moseley.
Other Air Force Uniform Initiatives:
ABU light-weight blouse: Wear testing should begin by summer of 2009.
Improved Air Force PT uniform: Wear testing should begin in Feb 2009 at the Pentagon and MacDill Air Force Base.
Air Force PT/Running Shorts: USAF PT shorts should be in Air Force clothing stores this summer (2009).
Black Combat Boots: A proposed change to the Air Force Uniform Wear policy is under consideration to allow some Airmen to wear Black Combat Boots with the ABU uniform in place of the ABU Sage-Green Boots.
