Navy accelerting Enlisted Service Uniform issue to Sailors


                                              

The Navy is accelerating the rollout of the new Navy Service Uniform (Black & Tan) for E-6s and below, According to the Navy Times. 

The rollout of the Navy Service Uniform in Naval District Washington was moved up to 1 Feb.  The new Navy uniform will begin appearing in Tidewater in April.   As production of the uniform is ahead of schedule other regions could see accelerated rollout dates as well.

Updated Navy Service Uniform Wear dates

• Feb.1 (was April 1): Naval District Washington
• April 1 (was July 1): Tidewater
• Oct. 1: Southeast
• Jan. 1, 2010: Northeast
• April 1, 2010: Europe, Japan, Guam

The Navy Uniform Board also approved a special device for sailors serving at Fort Meade, Md. Additionally, the new qualification pin was approved for aviation maintenance officers.

    Looks like the Navy had not learned from the experiences in the Vietnam War and Adm Zumwalt's change in uniforms. Back then everybody looked like airline pilots. It ruined the Navy. Enlistment went down, down, down. We shall see.
