Naval District Washington sets NWU rules for area sailors

Mark Faram of the Navy Times reports that the Naval District of Washington has published wear rules for the new Navy Working Uniform. 

Highlights are:

-Sailors are not allowed to wear NWUs in the Pentagon.

-The NWU is restricted to wear on-base.  The NWU is not authorized after normal working hours and is not authorized for wear beyond the base perimeter.

-The regional debut has been delayed from Oct 2009 to April of 2010.

"Naval District Washington includes the District Of Columbia; the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, St Mary’s, Baltimore City and Bloodsworth Island; and the Virginia counties of Arlington, Caroline, Fairfax, Fauquier, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Westmoreland."

"Beyond the Pentagon, major installations in NDW where sailors are stationed include the Washington Navy Yard in the District of Columbia; the Naval Academy, Fort Meade and National Navy Medical Center Bethesda in Maryland; and the Navy Annex, Marine Corps Base Quantico and Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren in Virginia."

The wear date for the Navy Working Uniform is NLT 31 Dec, 2010.
