Chief Announces Navy Uniform Changes

Navy uniform policy changes were announced in NAVADMIN 149/09 published on 20 May 2009.  Navy uniform policy changes include Navy PT Uniforms, Navy Maternty Uniforms, the Air Force Space Badge and changes to Navy Uniform Board Membership. 

High Performance Navy PTU: A high performance Navy Physical Training Uniform (PTU) was approved for development and Fleet introduction during winter of 2009.  The new high performance Navy PTU will be optional and can be worn in lieu of the standard issue PTU. More information will follow in future NAVADMINs. 

-Navy PT Uniform Fitness Suit:   A wear test will be conducted during fall of 2009.   The fitness suit with the best performance will be chosen to replace or augment current Navy sweat pants and shirts.  More information will follow in future NAVADMINs. 

-Navy Service Maternity Uniform:   Effective immediately female sailors (E1-E6) are authorized to wear the current (E7-O10) Service Khaki (100% CNT) Maternity Blouse with Winter Blue Maternity Slack/skirt as the new Navy Service Maternity Uniform.
  

-Air Force Space Badge:   Effective immediately Navy personnel are no longer authorized to wear the USAF Space Badge. The USAF Space Badge has been redesigned & reclassified as an Air Force qualification/warfare insignia.  Sailors cannot qualify for the new insignia.

-Navy Uniform Board Changes:   Navy Uniform Board membership has been revised to provide more fleet representation. Navy Uniform Board membership consists of:

-Chief of Naval Personnel (Uniform Board President)
-Commander, Navy Expeditionary Command
-Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command
-Director, Manpower, Personnel, Training & Education Policy Division (N13)
-Director, MPTE Resource Management Division (N10)
-Director, Diversity and Women's Policy Division (N134)
-Master Chief Pettery Officer of the Navy
-Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command Fleet Master Chief
-Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet Fleet Master Chief
-Chief of Naval Personnel/Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (N1) Fleet Master Chief
Non-voting Members:
-Superintendant, U.S. Naval Academy
-Commander, Naval Installations Command Force Master Chief
-Commander, Navy Education & Training Command
-Chief of Navy Reserve Force Master Chief
-Two (O5/E9) female representatives from Pacific Fleet & Atlantic Fleet
