The Air Force Uniform Office wants to make sure that all Airman understand that they should only purchase Air Force authorized ABUs.  The Air Force has only authorized an All-Season ABU for wear service wide.


The currently issued ABU was designed for all climates and is only available from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.

The only exception is the 100% cotton Airman Battle Uniform which is only authorized for firefighter and electrician career fields.  

Rip-stop material is not authorized and any claims by vendors selling a summer ABU are not authorized by the Air Force.


The Air Force Uniform Office wants to ensure that Airman are purchasing and wearing uniforms that are authorized by the Air Force.  Airman that purchase uniforms from anywhere other than the exchange are risk of having an inferior uniforms.
