NAVADMIN 188/09
announced that Sailors are now authorized to wear the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) during routine stops off-base, and at eating establishments during workday.  The new NWU wear policy differs from NAVADMIN 343/08 by allowing Sailors to make routine stops in their Navy Working Uniform.  Under the new wear policy Sailors are allowed routine stops at gas stations, child care, convenience stores and banks.

NAVADMIN 188/09 states that the NWU or CUU is restricted inside the National Capital Region (NCR).  Sailors on staffs may not wear the above uniforms as the uniform of the day.  In some cases Commander's may make exceptions to the above policy.
