DRIFIRE Flame Resistant, Mositure Wicking Shirts
I recently got a hold of a couple of DRIFIRE lightweight short sleeve tee-shirts. DRIFIRE has military contracts and advertises them as moisture wicking, fast drying and flame resistant. They are also advertised as having anti-bacteria protection to fight odor.
I'm a really skeptical guy and my first thought was there was no-way that these could be any different, or any better, than what's currently on the market. Being a former career grunt with a combat tour in Iraq I decided to put them through the paces to see if what was advertised was really true.
I've wore both shirts for over a month doing heavy yard work, outdoor painting and crossfit PT. Each shirt was completely soaked with sweat at least 20 times. Neither has ever been washed.
Both Drifire tee-shirts worked exactly as advertised. They wear like cotton tee-shirts and soak up the moisture as good, or better, than anything I've ever worn before. They also dry fast as advertised. They were completely dry in a couple of hours and you can wear them multiple times a day if necessary.
I sweat profusely and go through a set of PT gear daily. Not so with my Drifire shirt. I have used it daily for crossfit PT for over one month and have never washed it. Unlike my other PT gear - there is absolutely no odor in the Drifire tee-shirt. I didn't see PT shorts and socks on their website, but would recommend those as well if they sold them.
When I get a few more miles on the shirts I'll put the shirts through the burn test (see the video below). If there are any issues I'll report back immediately, but I like the Drifire shirts too much attempt to destroy them at this point.
Drifire makes an outstanding product. I've had my share of field time, to include Iraq, and my only question is "Where was this stuff 25 years ago?" The Flame Resistant capability is key, but the moisture control, cotton feel and anti-bacteria material is outstanding and what really make Drifire a superior product for military and everyday use.
