NAVADMIN 271/09 July 2009 Navy Uniform Board Results


 NAVADMIN 271/09 published on 16 Sept 2009 outlines Navy Uniform changes and the results of the July 2009 Uniform Board.

A summary of the changes include:

-Effective Immediately the NAC Qualification Insignia is redesignated as NAC Warfare Specialist Insignia.

-Removal of the restriction that limits wearing of one insignia from any single category of insignia.  Effective immediately sailors qualified to wear multiple warfare/qualification devices within a single category are authorized to do so.

-Navy cosmetics policy for female sailors.  Effective 1 November cosmetic permanent makeup is authorized for eyebrows, eyeliners, lipstick and lip liner.  Permanent makeup is considered an elective medical procedure.  Female sailors should refer to NAVADMIN 271/09 for detailed information.

-Sailors assigned to the staff of U.S. AFRICOM are authorized to wear the AFRICOM staff ID Badge.

-Effective immediately sailors whose primary duties are performed on the flight line and flight deck and who are issued Aviation Flight Deck Boots as organizational clothing are authorized to wear the Flight Deck Boot with the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) while commuting.  The approved Non-Spark Safety Boot is a Navy Certified, Black all weather safety boot. Procurement of the safety boot is an issuing command responsibility.  Sailors who are issued and wear the Black Navy Non-Spark Safety Boot are still required to purchase and maintain the Nine Inch NWU Boot.
