ABU Wear Policy Update BDU Gore-Tex and Field Jacket Authorized for wear with ABUs
ABU Wear Policy Update
The Air Force has authorized BDU Goretex Jackets and BDU field jackets to be worn with the ABU Uniform. The ABU wear policy decison was made due to greater demand for cold weather gear than the current supply of ABU coats.
A 2008 Air Force Message gave commanders the authority to authorize wear of "BDU Gore-tex and BDU field jackets with the ABU Uniform when other approved cold weather options were unavailable or unserviceable."
To ensure Airmen are equipped for adverse weather, the ABU/BDU "mix and match" policy has been extended until 1 May, 2010.
