ABU Fleece Jacket wear policy released by Air Force Officials

AF public affairs reports that a 9 Oct, 2009 message was released by the 98th Air Force Virtual Uniform Board outlining Air Force Policy for wear of the ABU Fleece Jacket as an outer garment for the ABU uniform. The Sage Green ABU Fleece may only be worn over the ABU top and isn't authorized to be worn solely over undergarments.
Items authorized for wear with the ABU Fleece include: Black/sage green leather, suede or knit gloves, black/sage green watch caps, black scarves and black ear muffs.
The ABU Fleece Jacket requires:
- Velcro ABU last name tape, centered between the zipper and sleeve seam on the right
- Velcro ABU U.S. Air Force tape, next to the name tape centered between the zipper and sleeve seam on the left
- Velcro subdued rank, flushed and centered above the last name tape
- ABU Fleece must remain zipped no lower than halfway between name tape and collar
- ABU Fleece collar must be folded when the zipper is not completely zipped
- Bottom of the ABU Fleece jacket must be as close to the length of the ABU jacket as possible
- ABU Fleece jacket sleeves must be worn down at all times
- ABU Fleece must be kept neat, serviceable and professional at all times
Sage green fleece is authorized for wear without name tapes and rank insignia as a outer garment until 1 Oct, 2010 by the uniform board. Black Fleece jackets will be phased out 1 Oct, 2010. Black or Green Fleece Jackets may be worn as a APECS liner.
