NAVADMIN 015/10 Prohibits 50/50 NWU Blue T-SHIRTS

NAVADMIN 015/10, published 15 Jan 2010, notified the Fleet of a problem with the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Blue T-Shirt.

NAVADMIN 015/10 states "Navy Exchange Command (NEXCOM) uniform centers have been marketing a 50/50 cotton/polyester version of the blue T-Shirt for the NWU (identified by SOFFEE in red letters on the collar label".

The only fabric approved by the CNO for wear with the NWU is the cotton NWU Blue T-Shirt.  The 50/50 Cotton/Poly version is not authorized.  NEX has stopped selling the 50/50 version at uniform centers.   Any unworn versions can be returned to the uniform centers for a refund or store credit.

The Navy is encouraging sailors to save their 50/50 shirts until a study is completed to determine its wear in all environments.

Sailors should refer to NAVADMIN 015/10 for more information.
