Navy ACU wear regulations for Sailors

NAVADMIN 042/10 published 4 Feb, 2010 outlines Army Combat Uniform (ACU) wear regulations for Sailors serving with Army units and other services.  The uniform regulation allows Sailors to wear the ACU when wearing the Navy equivalent is "inappropriate". 

This should be at no cost and Sailors can apply for reimbursement of out of pocket expenses for ACU uniform items through their chain of command.

NAVADMIN 042/10 stated that Sailors "who meet the criteria outlined in Navy Uniform Regulations (NAVPER 156651) Chapter Six, Section Six, for authorized wear of the Army Combat Uniform (ACU), shall do so in accordance with U.S. Army Uniform Regulations and the following additional guidance:"

-ACU Headgear:  Only the Patrol Cap or ACU Boonie hat is authorized when not wearing a helmet.  Sailors are authorized to sew on rank insignia to the above head gear, including the helmet cover.

-ACU Name Tape/Service Insignia:  Will be made with universal camouflage background and the placement will follow Army guidelines.  Name tape is authorized on the ACU Patrol Cap.

-Navy Skill badges/Tapes, Unit Patches/Insignia and Sewn-on devices are not authorized

-Subdued Pin on Breast Insignia (Warfare only):  Authorized for wear in garrison only.

-U.S. Flag Insignia:  Worn in accordance with Army uniform regulations.

-ACU Footwear:  To be worn as authorized by the local Army Commander.

-Black Fleece Gortex Liner: Is authorized.
