NAVADMIN 366/11 NWU WEAR RULES EXPANDED
NAVADMIN 366/11 published on 2 Dec, 2011 announces expanded occasion and revised manner of wear for the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Type I, II AND III.
The NAVADMIN updates NWU Regulations and takes effect on 1 Jan, 2012 for all CONUS, Hawaii and Guam commands and announces increased authorized stops that the NWU may be worn while commuting. The new policy allows the NWU to worn at selected venues as authorized by Commanding Officers or the Regional Commander.

NWU Type I, II and III occasion for wear
-The NWU Type (I,II,III) is authorized for commuting and all normal tasks associated with stops (child care, gas stations, off base shopping, DMV & dining) before, during and after the workday.
-As the Navy Working Uniform is not a liberty uniform alcohol consumption in NWUs while off-base is prohibited.
-Regional Commanders (Navy Uniform Regulations Para 1201.2) may further restrict uniform policy in their area.
-The NWU Type, I, II & III is authorized for wear at all locations with the exception of inside the Pentagon and the National Mall area bounded by Capitol Hill and surrounding Senate & House Offices, the White House & Executive Office Building, State Dept and all Monuments and Memorials. (Metro, Public Transportation and Slug Lines are authorized)
-The Navy Service Uniform & Service Dress Uniforms remain the Uniform of the Day at the above restricted locations within the National Capital Region (NCR).
-NWU wear on CONUS commercial travel (Airlines, Railway, Bus) is prohibited.
-NWU wear on commuter transportation (Metrorail, Metrobus, Commuter bus, VRE, Ferries) is authorized.
